General Information
Name: Minji
Age: 16 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Hetero
Rank: Weyrling/Sr. Apprentice Artist
Appearance
Hair: Dark brown with natural red highlights
Eyes: Light, baby blue
Height: 5ft 1in
Over-All: Not exactly the tallest person around, Minji is not exactly short either. If any, Minji is just a little under average, but she really is not at all considered to be skinny. Also, Minji seems to look as if she is a very fragile individual, but in all reality, she is as robust as a young, livened runnerbeast that has found its use of its stringy legs. Her average appearance makes her nothing exactly out of the ordinary, but she does have some different querks that makes her 'stand out' compared to the rest of the crowd. Of this, there is not alot of people that Minji has ever seen with such a light, baby blue eye color matched with dark, reddish-brown hair. With that said, this is probably one of the few things that Minji finds herself to be unique.
More about Minji is that she is a lightly tanned brown with a few dark freckles across the small of her shoulders and back, as well as a few lighter freckles across her nose and cheeks. Everywhere is pretty much left unblemished but a few scars from some minor injuries of her past. There is one scar in general on her right leg, near her lower thigh, involving her falling and cutting herself on a sharp object. She cannot exactly remember from what and where it happened, but she does remember that that was were her small scar came from. She also has a few cuts and scratches on her feet because she does not exactly enjoy wearing any footwear, but she has been wearing a fairly new pair of wherhide boots for some time now, so whether her feet still have those cuts and scratches, they would probably be only faintly noticeable, if no longer there.
On to any certain form of clothes that Minji wears, it is pretty much anything that is comfortable and suitable for the occasion. Dresses can be included in the comfortable wear, but mostly they are worn for special occasions, as Minji will sometimes wear sundresses whenever it is a warm, breezy day. Other than that, Minji is normally wearing somewhat worn breeches, a light colored shirt, if not a tunic, and her favorite pair of wherhide boots that are a rich, dark navy blue but could pass as black. She is always, no matter whether she is in a dress, wearing a tanned leather belt about her waist with several pouches. In one such pouch, her small 3" blade pocket knife can be found. The rest of the pouches contain sketching utensils and other things that are important for Minji to carry with her.
Aside from the belt that is always about her waist, Minji also has several rings that she never takes off of her hands. About her right ring finger is a delicately thin ring. The rest of her rings are thick banded with different designs. They rest of on right thumb and left pinky, middle, and fore fingers.
Personality
Minji is probably one of the most jovial people one could meet. There's always a smile on her face wherever she goes, and more oft than not, she's seen skipping through the Hold, humming one of the many tunes that she loves. There is usually never one day that Minji won't be seen with her flashing smile, even when she's feeling down for she can easily be cheered up. But just because Minji is a very outgoing person, she is one of the shyest people around. She would much rather be contained in a no-happy zone rather than be in a room full of people with hardly no room to move about as she has a slight case of being claustophobic, not that she wouldn't miss out on a Gather because of it. As much as she dislikes being in large crowds, Minji will keep her wits collected and enjoy herself.
With being a jovial kind of person, Minji also has a demanding side of her that she rarely enforces, but she knows that it's there. She knows her responsibility and how to go about with it, but she finds no fun in it most of the time. Because of her lack in putting forth her authority, many people think that Minji lacks anything relating to leadership qualities. There has been but one time that she had ever really enforced herself, and it was after that that Minji refused to do such a thing again as it caused many of the young holdbrats to fear her for some time before she promised them that she'd never be that way again. She much prefers letting other people give the commands, but sometimes, she refuses to take them and rebels. In which case, Minji enjoys rebelling against people who thinks that something should be done one way, instead of finding an alternate way of going about it. By being a rebellion, she's no where near as being the kind that will go all out, but merely go about in a safe manner, never going a route that would cause harm to other people or herself. There is just some things that she feels that are better about going a different way then the one set in.
Another thing about Minji is that she is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She will not tolerate anyone belittling anyone that is dear to her, especially if a young adult was saying or doing anything to a young brat. If anything, Minji does not stand abuse, verbal or physical, to a holdbrat. Whenever met with the angered side of Minji due to testing her loyalties, it's sometimes not a pretty sight as she tends to get to the point of kicking, punching, or biting. But because of her gentle side, she never truely goes that far. Instead, she tries to result in a compromise, or something. She's more, in any case, a person who tries to keep the peace, if not disrupting it first before settling the cause.
History
Minji didn't know that she had an 'artistic hand' when she was born. All she knew was that she had a knack for drawing amazing pieces of art, even at such a young age. When she was old enough to be put into a craft, her parents chose for her the artistic crafting. Everyday when she came home, young Minji would have a sketching of a dragon, or one of her friends within that craft. She would constantly talk of how she would ride on one of the dragons from Sanctum Weyr when she was older and make a full sketch of the Hold and the Weyr. Of course, at that time, Minji wasn't really into dragons as most of the other holdbrats of Sanctum. Instead, she loved her craft, and sometimes she enjoyed that of her sister's; which was harpering.
Not once would Minji really care to take a second glance of the dazzling dragons that often flew over the Hold, though, every know and again whenever she was out in the valley with some of her friends, she would just instinctively sketch out a dragon whenever one passed and show them enthusiastically to them. She loved drawing, she loved music, and most of all, she was just happy that she was what she was.
When Minji became a senior apprentice by her 16th turning day, almost being considered to being one of the youngest journeywoman, she was one of the few that got to travel to Sanctum Weyr. How she adored the sight of the Weyr. Because of this being her first time seeing the Weyr, she made small sketches of people, dragons, buildings, animals, and more. It seemed like everywhere she looked there was something that had to be sketched down, or lost forever until the next time she returned, to which, Minji wasn't exactly quite sure. But just by everything within, it made her lust for more about the Weyr; even more so because she, like many other people within the Hold, knew everyone within the Weyr. It was only when it was time to leave the Weyr for the Hold after a sevenday did Minji feel remorse. How the life of the Weyr moved her, how it made her long to stay longer than what was really expected of her. So, spending the last few minutes within the entrance of the gate, the only entrance to the Weyr one foot, her and the journeyman she went with, took off for the road back to the Hold.
Upon their return, Minji showed her teacher her sketchbook in which all of her sketches where in. Every page was dedicated to one of the riders and their dragons within the Weyr. Name of the rider, name of the dragon, everything that was essential to remembering was on the respectful page of that individual. Being one of the few lucky senior apprentices to go, Minji valued her book. Her life pretty much. That is, until one of the Searchriders came to the Hold in news that a clutch was going to be laid soon and that the need of candidates were essential.
The thought of going back to the Weyr should she be one of the choices lingered upon Minji's mind. Did she really want to leave her teacher, her friends, her family, and most of all, her craft in general? For a moment, as Minji stood with the other potentials, she looked back in the direction of her home and where she had her classes. When her gaze returned to that of the rider and dragon, she almost jumped back startled for the rider had stood right infront of her, a look of bemusement on his face as he smiled warmly, his eyes sparkling in kindness. When Minji knew what was going on, she held her breath and clung onto her sketchbook. By doing so, the rider looked at the book clung next to her chest and laughed bemusemently before he spoke up, asking if she was the young lass who had asked him if he and his dragon could pose for her for a few minutes. When Minji finally found her voice, she said that she was indeed that lass and openly showed him that sketch she made of them. He was indeed thrilled by the sketches, and finally remembered why he was there. He soon told her that his dragon thought her good enough to stand for the clutch, and at first, she hesitated, before agreeing, and when she returned to the Weyr with him upon his dragon, she was not only frightened from her first ride, but thrilled to be back within Weyr society again.
After spending a few sevendays within the Weyr, and learning rather slowly the lifestyle lived, Minji was quite shocked to know that the hatching of the clutch protected by a fostering gold, was hatching. It was when Minji was concerned out of the safety of two dragonlings, the green that she had Impressed to, and one of the green's bronze sibling. If it weren't for the intervening of the foster gold, Minji would probably not have been one of the few lucky candidates to Impress as she loves Laylath more than anything.
Minji now resides within the Weyr as a weyrling until she and Laylath graduates to become full-pledged riders. Until the day comes, the weyrling pair are always under the watchful eyes of Arcyl, Minji's gold fire lizard that was Impressed a few days before the hatching of the green dragon at the dragon hatching.
OPTIONAL STUFF
FOR THOSE WITH FLITTER(S):
Name: Acryl {AH creel}
Species: Firelizard
Age: Young
Color: Gold
Description: Acryl is an almost rich goldenrod color with the faintest of white lines around her eyes, as though some decided to put eyeliner on her. The goldenrod coloring of Acryl's hide deepens to an antique golden bronze near her hind quarters with flecks of the previous said goldenrod about them. Her claws are a light goldenrod, albeit her hind claws are of a medium color.
Personality: Quite demanding and none the less anything short from a gold's personality. Whether Acryl is in the best moods or not, she always seems to show as to who she really is. There is nothing that she will tolerate if it can be helped. Although this gold can be rather demanding to the point of being annoying, she is rather protective of her chosen, and however odd it may be, over the green dragon Laylath.
FOR DRAGONRIDERS:
Name: Laylath {LAY lahth}
Age: Hatchling
Color: Green
Lineage: Gold Freseath & Bronze Ruinith
Clutch Smoke & Mirrors
Egg: Mist Egg
Description
Fine angles, fine lines, delicate muscle structure, the promise of grace, stealth and predatory speed: this is Laylath in a nut shell, even at hatching. Her features are elegantly proportioned, from the wide span of her wings with delicate-looking (but decidedly powerful) bones to the slender arch of her neck, her eyes which are a touch wider than the average dragon's though not unattractively, and finishing at her curling, slender tail. She is all feminine grace, and each movement highlights her nature as a hunter. Even on the ground she possesses more dignity than most of her color, and her wingspan alludes to her being large when she is fully grown - perhaps the size of a medium-sized blue. While this will rob her of some of the speed that her color is known for, it will grant her more stamina than most greens, as she will be able to glide more efficiently. Even at hatching, there can be no denying that she is a magnificent creature, and anyone foolish enough to question it need only take a glance at the wickedly sharp claws she possesses to know that they should shut their mouths.
If green goldstone could be spun out into hide, it would probably resemble Laylath's coloring. She is a deep, dark green, but there are flecks of lighter shades common enough on her hide to give her an almost lime-green (or perhaps light gold?) shine, breaking up the shadows of her natural shading. The color is pure and rich and spans from the tip of her snout to the end of her tail, unbroken save for those lighter touches, which vaguely resemble needlepoint stars. Someone inquisitive enough might even be able to find constellations in her hide - or perhaps that is merely people superimposing what they wish to see? Regardless, there is absolutely nothing about this green that blends in to a crowd - she stands alone.
Personality
Distant. Aloof. Laylath is a dragon who does not appear to have much interest in the world around her, as if she knows her own worth and does not feel inclined to prove herself to anyone - least of all the casual viewer. She takes great pride in herself. Oh, it is true she knows she is a green - but this green also knows that it is her color who are the fastest dragons on Pern, her color who can maneuver and twist and turn to outshine any bronze in falling Thread, and she is proud of that fact. A creature of balance, she treats others distantly, though not cold in the least and people who are kind and respectful to her will receive much the same treatment. She is the kind of dragon who will spend much of her time alone, confident and composed, and she possesses an almost supernatural grace, particularly in the air. Loops and turns come exceptionally easy to her. The air is her playground and she lives to explore it all.
Some dragons are flirtatious but Laylath is not one such creature. Except when she is close to flight, Laylath wants little to do with males and treats them with the same distance a queen might. She does not mistake herself for a gold, but it wouldn't be hard for someone else to, with her regal disposition. She does not bespeak anyone - not even the lucky few who can speak to all dragons - except for Hers and when she addresses other dragons, she is usually extremely formal, even among those she does know well. She has a talent for biting words and if eloquence was a dragon, Laylath would be that creature. Never let anyone doubt she is exceptional. She may not be a gold, but Laylath knows her place: and in the sky, all dragons have their purpose, and none are worth more than the others. Just because she's a green doesn't mean she should be underestimated.
