.) Candidates must be over the age of fourteen and under the age of twenty-two. This goes for both girls and for boys. Typical ages will be fifteen to eighteen, with anything over being considered old for a candidate. After the age of twenty-two, a candidate may no longer Stand for Impression, regardless of their lineage and status.
.) Candidates are expected to be on their best behavior at all times. If there are lessons (There will be an announcement about this if so), they are expected to attend. They are to treat all members of the Weyr and Hold with respect. Rudeness will not be tolerated under any circumstances. There will be no "pulling rank" -- even if they are the Lord Holder's son, at the Weyr they are a candidate, the lowest of the food chain, equal to the lowest Weyrbrat. Punishment for "pulling rank" and misbehaving will be severe. Misbehaving includes being disrespectful to the clutchmother and eggs at a touching or hatching. Candidates that misbehave may find themselves on the receiving end of an angry queen dragon. No one wants that. Behave yourselves.
.) All candidates are expected to be celibate. While I won't enforce this rule out of character, it will be enforced in character. Which means that you as the roleplayer have the option of breaking the rules, but know that if your character does and is caught, there will be quite severe consequences for them. Not for you.
.) Please do not bring in handicapped candidates. Paralyzed, blind, deaf, mute, mentally ill -- if you are insistent on making them, know that they will not Impress. No dragon of Sanctum Weyr would choose to look to someone who is not physically capable of riding them or keeping them healthy, taking care of them, or mentally stable enough to bond with. Nor would any of the search dragons bring them back. These characters can be made as Hold and Weyrfolk, however.
.) Candidates live in the candidate barracks and they are allowed to stand for firelizard clutches. However, a candidate with a firelizard may find themselves having difficulty taking care of their flitters as well as their other responsibilities, and if they Impress a dragon this could become worse. I expect this to be roleplayed if you decide to follow through with it, but I won't hold it against you if you forget.
