But now, onto the story...
The Selo Islands are four harmonious sister islands that are smack in the middle of the Tord Sea, a week or so of traveling time away from any other landmass by boat, sea creature or dragon wing transportation. The smallest of islands is called Atiris-Selo, the second smallest is Noctray-Selo, the next one up in size Laatris-Selo, and the biggest and most populated island is Mriita-Selo--all named after four children.
-----> A Brief History
These islands were discovered by a family of six who had journeyed from afar by boat, and were impressed at what they could see from a distance. The islands looked to be teeming with life, and the water they skimmed was brimming with different sea life and thousands of colorful fish that circled curiously around the boat. The family was excited, thrilled with the knowledge that they had discovered a paradise all their own!
But every paradise has a hazard--and the Selo family was not at all prepared at the horror they met the second their foreign feet touched the sands of the largest island. Very large cat-like beasts attacked them, ravenous and furious with an unknown anger...the parents were slaughtered in their attempt to protect their children. All was at a loss until a feather-winged dragon swept down from the skies, so fast and so swift that the four girls were not able to see what kind of blow made the beasts fall on the spot, dead.
That is where the adventure began, and the discoveries of a much different world than the children had grown up in...
Not too long later another ship arrived, another family who had taken off just days after the Selo family. For what reason these families had left their original home was not spoken of, and the knowledge of it died as their new lives began and more and more people arrived, forming a thriving civilization and making peace with the original habitants of the islands--dragons, stags/mares, and other such creatures that became a normal part of the civilization.
It was discovered that dragons hatched their eggs by singing various notes, but sometimes many eggs would not be able to hatch because the right note could not be found. So chosen humans would help, and more and more eggs began to hatch...except that the ones the humans hatched, the little dragons would instantly be attached to them. And so started the age of dragon-human cooperation, and ties were bound and actions taken to tamp down the constant threat of the Beasts, the cat-like creatures who had attacked the first human settlers. No matter how many of the Beasts were defeated, they just kept on coming in fresh waves, and a raid happened at least twice a week in unexpected areas.
Where were the Beasts coming from? Were there any other creatures that stood on the same side as the Beasts? And why were they so persistent to continue attacking the residents of the Selo Islands?
-------> Your Part In The Story
More than fifty years later, the islands are still the same--under threat of the Beasts as more and more humans, dragons, and other creatures are slaughtered in the Raids. During each raid, the Beasts seem to be...looking for something. And, not finding it, they spend their energy striking out in uncontrollable anger. It's up to the new generation of Dragonsingers, Wingriders, and Landriders to figure out this puzzling mystery...and not get themselves killed in the act. You will face many exciting plots and meet amazing new people and different species of creatures. Let your imagination run, my friend, for that is what fuels this Role Play.
