Gold, Green, Brown, Bronze & Blue, High Reaches dragons will always fly true!
Twin Falls Weyr is a noncanon D.R.o.P. roleplay meant to give you more out of your roleplaying experience.
Our plots are unique and dark which is why we're rated R !
SO WHAT'S GOING DOWN?
Four turns have passed since the founding of Twin Falls, and so much has happened. The disease which destroyed the former Blue Cove Weyr still ravages the populace, taking many lives along the way and twisting the shapes of the dragons into hated mutant creatures. A man named Jarak, founder of the Wingclipper craft, gave Twin Falls a temporary cure for the sexually transmitted virus: to clip the wings of dragons, hobble the sickened whers, and stone the tainted firelizards.
Many people rebelled, and the Weyr was split in two, half fleeing to the remnants of the destroyed Blue Cove, trying to build a new home for themselves by the name of Skybound Weyr, but High Reaches Weyr starved out the rebels that dared let the diseased persist, making the rebels stretch their resources for a turn until they at least became one with Twin Falls again, their silver queen taking claim as Sn. Gold in place of the former Weyrwoman's clipped queen. Now with an obviously diseased male Weyrwoman (a title to laugh at to be sure), Twin Falls is barely holding on. Many have died, many more are on their way to the land between. Even the Master Clipper Jarak has succumbed to death. No one is safe.
Yet a strange man has just arrived at the Weyr offering a vaccine. Can Twin Falls trust another man who claims to have a cure or are the weyrfolk and their dragons doomed before they even try?
It has been over two Turns since the plague hit the Northern Continent. Many died, many were victims. The few left were force to take the weigh of those who had fallen. Thread still fell, it did not wait for the plague to subside. It did not care and in it's silver fall many more died. I watched on as my Weyr began to crumble, I watched as cries for help were left unanswered.
“Quarantine! We must quarantine the North!” Was what many Weyrleaders and Lord Holders demanded. I did not agree, nor at the time did my weyr mate who was Weyrleader of Crescent. The Master crafters stood behind every word the Riders said, and in the end there was a quarantine. It was insane! Most of the Weyrs could not fly Fall with a full wing! We needed to band together, but no. They were scared, as scared as I was. The total of death each day was stacking, it was traumatizing. The Queens we had were falling ill, many jumped between with or without their Rider. The ones left behind rose only to lay lifeless clutches. Madness, pain, suffering, and still we could do nothing but try. In a sea of my own tears I watched as the newer colors fell, they were hit harder and quicker.
Something needed to be done! It was clear the quarantine wasn't working! I rounded up my last surviving Wing Leaders, and Queenriders. I told them my plan, it was madness itself. But what did we have left to lose? I told them to spread the word that we were going to leave the North. Away from the plague, and hope that we could survive. That those left would not be lost. As the days went by till the date of when we would leave, many came willing to try anything. Anything at all. The day we left, I still felt tears fall down my cheeks. Many of my Riders could not come and I felt, some how I felt, that this was the last time I would see them. We left, left with heavy and broken hearts.
West, the one land that was never looked upon for settlement. We found a canyon perfect for building a new Weyr. A new life. And so we did. We survived the plague! Our young Queen is now close to age where she shall rise. As late Crescent's Weyrwoman and Solace's Weyrsteward, I feel that we will once more rise from the ashes anew! The Weyr is open to any who wish to settle here. The North has been ravaged, but still holds life. The other Weyrs are struggling to rebuild their numbers. But the Queens are rising, and one has even laid a clutch that has hatched!
Pern will survive, and so will the life on it.

A world of fantasy: medieval in essence, though not in fact, for it is inhabited by creatures of myths and dreams. A place where the creativity and bizarreness of the mind is allowed to flourish. Magic, an ability of unlimited possibilities, is found everywhere, along with monstrous beasts and divinely magnificent creatures, both intelligent and savage. Adventure, horror, drama, and mystery are found in every corner of these diverse areas of Leshmir. Why don't you see it with your own eyes?

Important Update!
THE WEYRWOMAN HAS BEEN MURDERED! That's right, Weyrwoman Shmee was found dead in the Dining Hall just recently. There were no signs of a struggle, but the Healers suspect that poison was the culprit.
Now the Weyr is in shambles, trying to pull itself back together again before anything else happens. Will someone else fall ill? How did it get there? Is there a spy within the midst?
Join Selenitas today and find out! With a need for Candidates and Bronzeriders, a rare opportunity, and a plot looming on the horizon, there's never been a better time.
It began with the theft of an egg. Battles followed, times changed and then it was quiet for awhile.
To start a war they stole a wife who in turn married the enemy. A massive battle followed, a Weyr was decimated and it was quiet.
Another egg was stolen, the hope of a Weyr that will lead them to war. A new danger has come to Pern, will it go up in flames and blood?
.:.When the Enemy is in the Sky, Dragonmen must Fly.:.
Eight eggs, including a gold, were stolen from Northern Weyr and now harden on Southern sands. Twelve eggs remain in the Northern Weyr hardening as well. Opening Jan. 19th, ALL positions are currently open. We are accepting riders of all colors and allegiances.
Caufar Weyr - 10th Pass Semi-Canon DRoP « Result #8 on Dec 30, 2008, 9:03pm »
Gold Sylfaeth's gift to Caufar proved once again that the Weyr's golds provide what's needed at all times, even in times of such unease as Pern is experiencing now. The pale champagne-gold Cevineth, newest daughter of Caufar, Impressed well to the Lady Miaran, a daughter of Ruatha and Nabol, and niece of Western Barrier, further tying the aloof mountainous holding to the Weyr to which it tithes. How, though, will Miaran's sister Chrianna cope with her shadow-sibling's Impression to the much-coveted gold, and Chrianna's own eclipse within family and Weyr hierarchy? What difficulties does Miaran face, thrust into the limelight almost against her will?
Snowy Eventide's Weyrlings face their own problems - from the potential to hold over grudges from Candidacy days to the Blood rivalry of the new queenrider and one of the new greenriders, to the news that Pern's own MasterHealer has arrived at the Weyr, sent for by Weyrlingmaster Shiandra herself, though only rumour abounds as to why... Though, if one looks closely, Candidatemaster T'bin is more than a bit poleaxed by the news that his veritably large family is about to grow by still one more. And what of Junior Weyrwoman Anodelle, Shiandra's only child up until this point? Her mother's pregnancy serves as a reminder of what she chose to leave /between/, though it may well be what heals the rift between the mother-daughter pair.
As if Darskea's Lady Nuriel doesn't have enough to handle, with the possibility that she's miscarried her Hold's chance for an heir, there are strange sails on the horizon, reports of products and people and yes, even those precious watercraft going missing, and it seems as though winter's respite has only produced new worries for Darksea, and probably for the Weyr as well. Ever eager to provide for itself, Darksea might have met its match in the organized raiders making their presence known in the dark waters the hold is named for, though they have to find a way to infiltrate the group first... Such a pity, isn't it, that Nuriel's brother Rieri has gone missing, presumed stupid, and the raiders appear to have that much more inside knowledge of the goings-on of the Hold territories...
Caufar's youngest mature queen, the elegant Rhaeath, appears to be growing proddier and more vibrant by the day, and word has it that her maiden flight is just around the corner. Will she take after her mother, Alorioth, and select her first mate from her clutch-siblings? What of the preferences of her half-sister, Sylfaeth, who can't seem to make up her mind? Of course, there's always that decision, not quite set in stone, that perhaps Caufar should open her Bloodlines a bit better, call for an open flight, and keep far from the Weyr's newest mother-to-be anyone with Blood ties too close...
Caufar welcomes the addition of Assistant Candidatemaster H'rolque to the ranks, and hopes that he has enough time to learn the ropes from T'bin before the Candidates really start pouring in for Rhaeath's clutch, as she's due to rise for the New Year...
How will you get involved in these tumultuous times at Caufar? Try for influence with Caufar's golds, see if you can slip in as a part of the multi-faceted newest Weyrling group, or perhaps trek out on your own, find your own niche on Pern that needs filling? After all, once 2009 hits, the raiders will organize themselves into a force to be contended with, Rhaeath will be in the air for a mate, and there will be lots and lots of dragon eggs....
The Erdan Island Chain -- Live Hard; Party Hard. Honor.
The Erdan Island Chain is more than just a Weyr; it is a corner of Pern, waiting to be explored. It's a sanctuary away from the troubles of the outside life, where you can safely develop a family among friends. People of all ages inhabit this site, from the young to the old.
We also have a long-running program that was the first of its kind. Our Pern extends on more than just one site! Although Crashing Seas Weyr, Great Cliffs Weyr, and Crystal Waters Weyr are located on different sites, these Weyrs are part of the same Pern as White Sands, thus adding to the feel of reality. Characters can interact with these sites and go back and forth between them! Are you part of a 10th Pass, canon Weyr? We're always looking for more Weyrs to expand our Pern.
There is also a site where Crafters can go and train with people who have IRL knowledge of the Craft, ultimately ending in walking the tables. You can play the same character, visiting from one to the other just as though a denizen of Pern actually could! The Craft Halls site
The Weyr's territory possesses quite a few minor holds scattered throughout the chain, so crafters are encouraged and there is certainly a lot for them to do. The Minercraft are most welcome, as the Erdan Islands are rich in firestone and coal, just waiting for the taking. Starcraft is quite respected here, the Erdan Island Chain being known for its magnificent sky. On clear nights, you can see the aurora australis from the southern islands.
Current events
Starcrafters are petitioning to have Starcraft Hall moved closer to the island chain to take advantage of the remarkable sky.
Clean Up of the Devastating Storm continues. The Storm wrecked havoc on the Weyr and Essal Island, causing major damage to the Weyrbowl and the Rim, including knocking down the Eye Rock. Currently the Weyrbowl floor is a mire, although its floor is being entirely rebuilt.
Melorath's second clutch hatched healthy and strong, producing two bronzes. The first clutch in ten Turns to do so! Congratulations to the new Weyrlings!
Now in mid-spring and the threats of rains over, Threadfall is surely on the horizon.
Gold Firelizard Namin's clutch is set to hatch on December 27th. All are welcome to partake in this event!
Unique plots, plots, and more plots!
NEXT HATCHING: Unknown
General information
White Sands Weyr is located on the island of Essal in the Erdan Island Chain, off the eastern coast of the Southern Continent. Harper Hall is located on Huryen, one of the islands in the chain.
Heated from the thermals that rise through the bottom of the crater the water is in, the Weyrlakes are warm Turn-round. Therefore, the Weyrlakes and indeed the ground off the Weyrbowl itself are always warm. This makes the Hatching Sands almost impossibly hot to walk on. The leatherworkers have been forced to come up with very special Candidate boots to allow those potentials to make it to the Clutch itself let alone stand there for the length of time a Hatching takes.
Even being so surrounded by water, and the forest of the Continent protected by grubs, White Sands would often get amazingly devastating Falls. It is a fact known as quite a deathtrap. With their devastating Threadfalls, few ‘riders live to the age of seventeen without being scored, often seriously. It is not uncommon to lose a dragon every time Thread tumbles from the sky. Because the weather is so terrible and the Weyr itself is too small to support a very big population, the dragonriders have to compensate. That is one of the reasons Whers introduced into the islands, as well as to protect and help the miners. Dragonriders and Wher Handlers trained in the Island Chain are known as the best trained Thread fighters on all of Pern. Or they would be if they were fighting Thread anywhere else.
Coal and firestone are a high-traffic commodity and in demand all around the world. With the discovery of so many veins, the islands became a popular source. Not known by the general populace, but the merchants and traders know them well.
With the harshness of winter comes the snow and ice, and the majority of the southern part of the Island Chain is covered. Leaving no room for the Thread, this halves the Weyr’s territory, giving them many opportunities to indulge in the other thing they are known for - parties. If there is a reason, and sometimes if there is not, those that inhabit the Island Chain come up with a party.
Starcrafters are highly respected here. The aurora australis are observable here during the winter months, which is surprising as the Weyr is not very close to the southern pole. It is the place to see the Dawn sisters clearly in the sky and is the clearest view on most of Pern. Along with the fantastic view of the sky and stars from the Weyr, the white sand from which the Weyr and Hold received their name is excellent for making glass. It is some of the purest sand in the southern hemisphere, broken down from the quartz crystals and other white hued minerals and rocks that lay embedded in the walls of the Weyr and island.
Additional comments
We do our best to promote interaction and RP with more than just dragonriders... holders, Crafters, and other residents of the Island Chain. Searchables, dragonriders and all always accepted. Lord / Lady Holder position available.
Oh, and we need all kinds of characters (no goldriders please)--feel free to apply as anything else canon!
